IEEE Computer-Based Medical Systems 2004 (IEEE CBMS 2004) will be held June 24-25, 2004 at the Hotel Four Points by Sheraton in Bethesda, just off the NIH campus.

The conference has about 100 technical presentations scheduled, in areas including content-based image retrieval, image processing, pattern recognition, signal processing, bioinformatics, data mining, decision support systems, medical databases, handheld computing for medicine, and medical devices. Three tutorials are planned, in image processing algorithms, PDAs in medicine, and medline searching. A session dedicated to NIH grants and funding will be offered also.

A reception is planned for June 23 at the Sheraton. Dr. Milan Sonka of the University of Iowa will deliver the keynote address, "Comprehensive Approach to Pulmonary Image Analysis," on June 24. In the evening of June 24, the conference banquet will be held at the Sheraton, with Dr. Carl Jaffe of NCI speaking on "Medical Imaging, Computers, and Human Visual Detection."
