Peter C. Beckerman

Mr. Beckerman is Associate Chief Counsel for Drugs and U.S. Biologics in the Food and Drug Division of the Office of the General Counsel (OCG) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services/Office of the Chief Counsel (OCC) at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), where he counsels both the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research and the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research. In addition to counseling the FDA on the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, the Public Health Service Act, and associated regulations, he advises the FDA on issues involving the HIPAA Privacy Rule. Before joining the OGC/OCC in December 2000, Mr. Beckerman was a litigator at Dorsey & Whitney LLP, in Minneapolis, MN, specializing in products liability defense, medical malpractice defense, and general commercial litigation. He received his J.D. degree cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School in 1995 and an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1991.
