The Cancer Genome Atlas' 2nd Annual Scientific Symposium:
Enabling Cancer Research Through TCGA
November 27-28, 2012
Crystal City, Virginia
On behalf of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), we announce the second annual TCGA (The Cancer Genome Atlas) Scientific Symposium to be held November 27-28, 2012, in Crystal City, VA. This will be an open scientific meeting with collaborative workshops, poster sessions, and plenary presentations where investigators from around the world will share their novel biological discoveries, analytical methods, and translational approaches using TCGA data.
By November 2012, TCGA will have released data for more than 6000 cases of human cancer, with each case having mRNA/miRNA expression, copy number, promoter methylation, and mutation analysis datasets accessible. New data types, including protein array data have also become available.
TCGA is a true community resource. For the program to achieve its overarching goals to stimulate basic cancer and genomic research and enable translational cancer science, we invite all investigators who are actively using TCGA datasets in their research, or who wish to begin using TCGA data, to participate in this exciting TCGA-focused scientific symposium.
The ultimate goal of this program is to further science and technology that can one day benefit the patient, and we sincerely hope that this meeting brings us closer to this goal.
