Nanotechnology promises to deliver novel tools and radical strategies for biomedical research as well as clinical applications. The application of nanotechnology to cancer research is particularly attractive for its potential to deliver innovative tools that can transform promising molecular discoveries into benefits for cancer patients. However, there are communication and cultural barriers between cancer and nanotechnology research communities that have hindered collaboration. Consequently, the symposium will attempt to bring these two communities together to focus on opportunities where nanotechnology can impact cancer research. Specific objectives include:
- Raise awareness of nanotechnology and its potential within the cancer research community
- Encourage dialogue between nanotechnology and cancer biology communities towards multidisciplinary teams for cancer research
The symposium will comprise plenary and keynote sessions as well as shorter talks, panel forums, and moderated question/answer periods.
