ORWH - Science Meets Reality: Recruitment and Retention of Women in Clinical Studies, and the Critical Role of Relevance

The Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH) is sponsoring a meeting entitled "Science Meets Reality: Recruitment and Retention of Women in Clinical Studies, and the Critical Role of Relevance" January 6-9, 2003. This conference will be held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC.

This scientific workshop will provide a critical update on:

The lessons learned regarding the recruitment and retention of women and other participants from clinical prevention and treatment trials, as well as longitudinal cohort studies conducted over the past decade,

The continuing challenges confronting the recruitment and retention of women, minorities, and other participants to ensure that clinical research is representative, relevant, and targeted to address scientific questions important to the public health, and

The emerging ethical and policy issues that present both challenges and opportunities for women's health research.
