Security and Parking on National Institutes of Health (NIH) Campus
All non-NIH employees are required to provide picture IDs upon entering the campus or NIH buildings, and all belongings are subject to searches. Increased security procedures are in place at all government facilities. Visitor parking is extremely limited and driving to the NIH campus for this event is not recommended. The NIH Campus is very accessible by the Washington D.C. area Metrorail (Metro) system. Shuttle buses regularly run from the Medical Center Metro stop, located on the Red Line, to Building 10.

If you will be driving to the NIH campus, please note that all non-NIH registered vehicles must enter at the Rockville Pike-South Drive or Georgetown Road-Center Drive entrance for inspection. Follow the direction signs to Building 10. Please allow extra time for compliance with these security measures.
Visitors must park in designated visitor parking lots (see the Visitors Campus Access Map). Visitor Parking is extremely difficult to find at NIH, so if at all possible, take public transportation. Visitor parking (other than patient visitors) is available at a cost of $2 per hour for the first three hours or $12 per day. Vehicles entering the underground parking areas will be searched prior to entering the garage. Be sure to allow extra time for this vehicle inspection procedure.
