The National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB), National Institutes of Health (NIH), will hold its first regional Grantsmanship Seminar on Wednesday, April 20, 2005. The 1-day seminar will be hosted by the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) at its Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies in Troy, New York.
The Grantsmanship Seminar is intended to provide an overview of NIBIB funding opportunities and NIH application, review, and grant-making processes and policies. The 1-day program will feature presentations from NIBIB science program and scientific review staff members and includes (l) descriptions on NIBIB research programs and scientific opportunities and advances, (2) instructional presentations on the NIH application, review and grant-making processes and policies, (3) individual question-and-answer sessions with the NIBIB program staff, (4) poster viewings of NIBIB grantee research, and (5) a tour of RPI's new Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies (http://www.rpi.edu/research/biotech/index.html).
Attendance will be limited by room size to about 150 people, including faculty, researchers, students, and others interested in bioengineering and biomedical imaging research and research training opportunities at NIH. Quantitative scientists who have little familiarity with NIH but are interested in biomedical applications will especially benefit from this seminar. The following links provide (l) a preliminary agenda, (2) an online registration form, and (3) hotel information. There is no registration fee for this seminar, and interested persons are strongly urged to register as soon as possible due to room size limitations.
Contact Ms. Stacy Wallick (wallicks@mail.nih.gov) for questions concerning the seminar program and Mindy Sorbo (sorbom@rpi.edu) for questions concerning the seminar logistics.
